Potential Theme/Length of game: 15-30 Minutes
Moral Reasoning, decision making, choices, consequences
Organization/Rules:
All players will be scattered in the field and each will have a cone and a ball. When the educator whistles they will have to choose between knocking down the cone of others by throwing the ball or protecting their cone. Players can move freely in the field and every time someone knocks down their cone, they must pick it up and head to the reflection area until everyone joins. Play around 2/3 rounds
Coaching Point at the reflection area - What are the strategies that you will use ensure that your cone is not knocked down again? Play 2/3 rounds. The most creative children receive green cards
Sample Discussion Questions:
After playing for a while pause the game for a moment and ask how the activity relates to autonomy, decision making etc.: What did you focus on during the game; to protect your cone or to knock over other cones? Why did you decide that way? Did you consider the consequences your decision would have? Did you change your strategy/choice during the game? After playing the game do you prefer one option?
Possible Progressions/Variations:
If you don’t have many balls or cones, can you think of a way to play this game in teams? How else can this game relate to life? Can the cones represent something specific?
